Exciting News: Mindful Gaming CIC Launches Renovation Project to Improve Inclusion!

Hi Everyone,

At Mindful Gaming CIC, we believe that gaming is more than just a pastime and is a fantastic way to build connections, share experiences, and create community. That’s why we’re thrilled to announce our latest project: a renovation of our building designed to better accommodate individuals experiencing social isolation due to mental health challenges, neurodiversity, or difficulties with social skills.

Why This Matters

Social isolation can be a significant barrier for many people, preventing them from engaging in activities they love, including tabletop games and immersive fantasy and sci-fi worlds. We know that these genres can be especially appealing to individuals who may find social interaction daunting, and we want to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to connect with others who share their passions.

Our renovation project aims to create a more inclusive and welcoming environment. We want our space to be a refuge where everyone feels safe, accepted, and empowered to participate.

What’s Changing

The renovation will focus on several key areas:

1. Accessibility: We’ll be enhancing our facilities to ensure they are welcoming and usable for everyone. This includes improving physical access and considering sensory-friendly options.

2. Quiet Zones: For those who may feel overwhelmed in larger groups, we’ll be creating designated quiet areas where individuals can retreat and recharge.

3. Adaptable Gaming Spaces: We plan to design flexible gaming areas that can accommodate different group sizes and preferences, making it easier for everyone to find their place in our community.

4. Sensory-Friendly Features: Incorporating elements like adjustable lighting and noise control will help create an environment that caters to diverse sensory needs.

5. Steaming Studio: We will in adding a streaming studio that will allow us to run activities such as Dungeons and Dragons online for people unable to take part in store.

6. Improved Gaming Facilities: While the driving force behind these adjustments to to allow better gaming spaces we will also be looking to equip them with better gaming tables, scenery, miniatures and other elements that everyone in our community can enjoy.
